1
Bake and cool cookies fully before decorating. Prepare royal icing in the following colors and consistencies:
Outline Consistency:
Orange
Green
BrownFlood Consistency:
Orange
Green
White -
2
Use your orange outline consistency icing to outline the circular orange. Be sure not to outline the leaf or stem.
-
3
Outline the leaf with your green outline consistency icing. Add a squiggle of green outline consistency icing in the center of the leaf.
Pro tip: Adding a squiggle of outline consistency icing in the center of small flooded areas helps to stabilize the flood consistency icing, preventing “cratering” or icing collapse in small areas. -
4
Flood the round orange section with your orange flood consistency icing.
-
5
Flood your green leaf with green flood consistency icing. Next, add the stem with your brown outline consistency icing.
-
6
Once the green icing is just crusted over, add a line of green outline consistency down the center of the leaf to make it more lifelike.
-
7
Outline the orange shape with orange outline consistency icing to give it a bit more dimension.
-
8
Add tiny dots of orange outline consistency icing to the orange to mimic the texture of an orange peel.
