How to Decorate a Taco Cookie
Taco bout a cute cookie! These sweet snacks will be gone without an uno, dos,tres at your next fiesta!

Bake and cool cookies fully before decorating. Prepare royal icing in the following colors and consistencies:
Outline/Piping Consistency:
Light Brown (mix a drop or two of Bright White into your Mocha Brown icing)
Dark Brown
Green
Red
YellowFlood Consistency:
Light Brown -

Using the light brown outline consistency icing, outline a half-circle shape. This will be the taco shell. Be sure not to outline the section for the toppings at the top of the shape.

Use light brown flood consistency icing to flood this half-circle shape.

Add the “meat” of the taco, using dark brown outline consistency icing. Be sure to squiggle the icing to get good texture. Wait for this icing to dry, about 15-30 minutes, before moving on to the next step. If you do not wait for the icing to dry, you will not get good definition between the topping layers.

Add dots of red outline consistency icing on top of the meat—this represents tomatoes or salsa.

Use your green outline consistency icing to pipe a few dots of green on top of the “meat” to create more color layers in that section. A colorful taco is a delicious taco!

Continue using your green outline consistency icing to pipe “lettuce” at the very top of the shape. You can pipe in lines, moving outward toward the edge of the cookie, to create the illusion of shredded lettuce.

To add shredded cheese, pipe short lines of yellow outline consistency icing on top of the meat.

Add a bit more green to the lower edges of the taco, so that the toppings reach all of the way to the base of the cookie.

Add a bit of red toward the base of the cookie to introduce more color.

To create a textured taco shell, pipe dots of light brown outline consistency icing near the edges of the taco shell.

For even more texture, pipe a few small dots of dark brown outline consistency icing throughout the body of the taco shell.
